Southwest Farmers Market (SWFM) recently announced the organization’s maiden Scholarship Program. This year, SWFM will commit $50,000 in scholarship funds to Ten(10) African graduating High School Seniors, with each receiving $5,000.
The scholarships will be awarded to students who reside in or attend school in areas where SWFM’s stores are located.
SWFM seeks “well-rounded young African women and men who demonstrate academic excellence, involvement in extracurricular activities, leadership, and/or perseverance.”
Eligibility Requirements
The candidate must be a graduating senior attending high school who is currently enrolled or plans to enroll full-time in a two —or four-year College or University in Fall 2025.
Criteria
The candidate must submit an essay on ONE of the two topics below. The Essay must be double-spaced, in Times New Roman, size 12 font, and a maximum of 1000 words.


- Tell us about yourself. You can tell us about your family background, obstacles you have faced, future goals, interests you are passionate about – anything that tells us something meaningful about you.
- Who has been your biggest influence or inspiration?
The candidate must submit the Essay and the following supporting documents:
- An unofficial transcript of high school grades
- Proof of SAT and/or ACT score (if applicable)
- A letter of acceptance from a post-secondary institution, and
- The below application form and signed Statement of Accuracy.

APPLICATION SUBMISSION
Submission kicks off February 16th, and the deadline is May 10th, 2025. All applications, essays, and supporting documents must be emailed to scholarships@southwestfarmersmarket.com.

Winners will be contacted on or before June 2nd, 2025.
